When you’re called by God, you just know it. Sometimes people will ask, “But how do you know?”
You just do.
It’s pretty simple, really. You accept it by faith…the same faith you used to accept Christ for salvation. You say, “Okay, God, I accept that I’m called.”
We’re ALL called to something for the Kingdom. If you look at the Great Commission, it’s pretty clear.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
– Matthew 28:18–20 (NASB)
Many wrestle with this. Even if they agree that they’re of consequence in the Kingdom, they feel discomfort with it.
“But I can’t…I’m not an evangelist.”
“I can’t just go up and start talking about Jesus to strangers.”
Good! That can be freaky.
It turns unbelievers off.
The best strategy is so UNfreaky that it seems unbelievable. But it works. Every time.
It’s the how that trips people up. So everyone is a part of the Great Commission, but most struggle with this for a lifetime because:
- They think only “special” people are called by God.
- They think too much water has passed under the bridge to be of value to Him.
- They think they’re not holy enough or that they’re otherwise disqualified.
- And an untold number of other “reasons.”
News flash! By our own qualifications, we’re ALL disqualified. But we have JESUS! So we’re ALL qualified! The only thing that can negate that is a choice not to believe it.
So if we choose to say, “Well Abba, if You’ve called me and qualified me, count me in!”…well, He takes us at our word. He will begin to manifest the calling in our lives. All we have to do is be pliable in His hands…to submit to His molding us into the image of His dream for us.
Will we all have the same results?
No. We’ll have the results we were designed to have.
Will we all experience the same journey?
No. We’ll experience journeys as unique as each of us.
And it will be glorious!
“But how??” you still ask. “What IS this mysterious and unfreaky strategy for walking out a calling and leading people to Him?”
It’s so simple. Here it is. Are you ready?
By gloriously being who He has called us to be, we’re the best magnet possible.
See, here’s the cool thing.
Disciples become evangelists automatically by living an authentic life.
We promote what promotes us. Or in this case…we promote WHO promotes us.
When we’re Christ-followers, and have put all of our identity in His hands, people notice. They’ll be inquisitive. They’ll want what we have. In other words, we become Kingdom magnets, attracting those who want…something more. Something they’ve never been able to obtain or achieve. And they’ll be drawn to us.
So figuring out the how isn’t important. That will come all by itself. Stop thinking about the how. Just be you. Be the most authentic you that you can be. People will notice how…ALIVE…you are and the door will open wide. At that point, you have the freedom and opportunity to share Who has rocked your world and changed your life.
You are so loved and so favored and so delightful in the eyes of God. Live from THAT identity, and I promise…you’ll begin to see things change almost instantly.
Let this be the year you fall into Him, and fall into being His. Release all your concerns about being like others or doing things the way others do. Let Him reveal who you are to Him. Be intentional about it.
